Estate Manager (with Live-In Accommodation) – Progression to General Manager

Our client is seeking an experienced and dynamic Estate Manager to oversee two beautifully restored luxury manor houses within their portfolio. This permanent position includes live-in accommodation and offers a defined progression path:
after the first 3 months, the successful candidate will transition into the role of General Manager for one of the client’s distinguished country house hotels in Preston.

Role Overview:

This hands-on leadership role suits an individual with strong operational experience, exceptional attention to detail, and a passion for delivering high-end guest experiences. You will ensure the seamless running and presentation of two elegant properties before stepping into a senior management role within a larger hotel operation.

Key Responsibilities:

Estate & Housekeeping Leadership

  • Lead and oversee housekeeping and estate presentation across both manor houses.

  • Maintain impeccable standards throughout guest rooms, public areas, and estate grounds.

Operational Oversight

  • Support daily operations to ensure an exceptional guest environment.

  • Coordinate maintenance requirements and ensure both properties remain guest-ready at all times.

Supplier & Budget Management

  • Manage supplier relationships and oversee procurement of estate and housekeeping supplies.

  • Monitor and manage associated budgets effectively.

Health & Safety Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with all Health & Safety regulations, including risk assessments.

  • Promote best practice standards across the estate team.

Cross-Property Support

  • Provide operational support across both sites, ensuring service consistency at all times.

Progression to General Manager (After 3 Months)

After a successful initial period, the role transitions into General Manager for one of the client’s prominent country house hotels in Preston.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Experience within luxury hospitality, estate management, or 4–5-star operations

  • Strong leadership abilities; able to train, motivate, and manage teams

  • Meticulous attention to detail and commitment to service excellence

  • Commercial acumen with experience managing suppliers and budgets

  • Professional, organised, and confident communicator

  • Hands-on attitude with the ability to oversee multiple properties

Benefits Package

Group Bonus:

  • Profit share after two years of employment

Pension:

  • 3% employer contribution in years 1–2 - growing to 7% by year 6
