Located in Lanark, South Lanarkshire, our beautiful care home provides Nursing and Dementia care for 45 residents. We are seeking a dynamic Head Chef who is passionate about creating exceptional meals and managing a kitchen with precision and care. In this role, you will ensure our residents enjoy delicious, nutritious meals every day, contributing directly to their wellbeing and happiness.

Your RoleAs Head Chef, you will take full responsibility for preparing, cooking, and serving both hot and cold meals that meet the dietary needs and preferences of our residents. You will work closely with the Group Executive Chef and Home Manager to plan and cost menus that offer a balanced and nutritious diet, using fresh, seasonal ingredients while adhering to budget. You will lead and supervise kitchen staff, ensuring compliance with food hygiene and safety standards to maintain smooth kitchen operations. Your role includes maintaining accurate records of food supplies, monitoring freezer and fridge temperatures, overseeing stock rotation and ordering supplies, and assisting with stock valuations. You will manage staff rotas for the kitchen and ensure health and safety standards and cleanliness are upheld in the kitchen and dining areas. Your leadership will create an efficient, positive kitchen environment that supports residents’ wellbeing and team success.

What We’re Looking For

  • City & Guilds 706 Parts 1 and 2, or equivalent culinary qualification (achieved or working towards)
  • Basic Food Hygiene Certificate
  • Proven leadership or supervisory experience in a kitchen setting
  • Strong communication skills and ability to manage and motivate a team effectively
  • Initiative and ability to work independently
  • Experience preparing specialised food for vulnerable groups and care environment experience is desirable but not essential
