GC-MS Analyst - Fragrance Industry

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a GC-MS Analyst to join a global manufacturer specialising in high-quality fragrance compounds, perfumes, and aroma ingredients used across various industries.

Due to continued growth, we're looking to expand the analytical department with a motivated individual who will support the preparation, analysis, and formulation of fragrance compositions. Please note, this is primarily a desk-based, computer-focused role.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare samples for GC-MS (Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry) analysis

  • Analyse fragrance samples to identify and quantify component materials

  • Interpret essential oil data to determine specific oils present

  • Create and develop fragrance formulas based on analytical data

  • Perform basic maintenance on GC-MS instruments

  • Update and maintain essential oil databases to support analysis and formulation



Requirements:

  • A degree (or equivalent) in Analytical Chemistry or a related field, with a focus on GC and MS techniques

  • Experience operating and maintaining GC-MS systems

  • Proficiency in analysing GC-MS data, ideally within the context of fragrance or essential oil ingredients

  • Strong understanding of essential oils and their components is highly desirable
