We are seeking a dedicated Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant to join our Client's vibrant educational team. This role is ideal for someone passionate about supporting the educational and personal development of students with special educational needs. The successful candidate will assist in classroom activities and provide tailored support to ensure a positive and effective learning environment for all students.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Assist teachers in preparing and setting up resources for lessons, specifically tailored to support SEN students.
  • Provide dedicated support to individual SEN students and small groups, helping to make the curriculum accessible and engaging.
  • Monitor and support the progress of SEN students, providing feedback to teachers and helping to implement educational plans (IEPs).
  • Help maintain a safe, inclusive, and organised classroom environment, adapting activities to meet the needs of SEN students.
  • Assist with the management of student behaviour, using strategies that promote positive interactions and constructive learning.
  • Participate in school meetings and training sessions related to SEN education and support.
  • Facilitate communication between students, teachers, parents, and SEN coordinators to ensure consistency in support and learning strategies.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Experience as a Teaching Assistant, with specific experience working with SEN students.
  • Strong understanding of the challenges faced by SEN students and effective strategies to aid their learning and development.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage sensitively with students facing diverse challenges.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team, particularly in collaboration with SEN coordinators and other educational professionals.
  • A proactive and compassionate approach to student learning and welfare.
  • Relevant qualifications such as an NVQ Level 2 for Teaching Assistants or equivalent, with additional training or certification in SEN support being highly desirable.
