Are you a compassionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant looking to support children with additional needs in a nurturing and inclusive school environment?

GSL Education are currently seeking a committed SEN Teaching Assistant to work in schools in Lancing. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in helping pupils with special educational needs to reach their full potential.

Role Overview:
As a SEN TA, you will work closely with pupils who require additional support due to learning difficulties, autism, ADHD, speech and language challenges, or social, emotional and mental health needs. You will support students one-to-one or in small groups, helping to create a positive and inclusive learning experience.

Responsibilities as a SEN Teaching Assistant:

  • Provide personalised support to students with special educational needs.
  • Help implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) or Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
  • Support classroom activities and encourage active participation.
  • Promote students' confidence, independence, and well-being.
  • Manage behaviour calmly and supportively, using positive reinforcement strategies.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and other staff.

Requirements for the SEN Teaching Assistant role:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN, either in education or care settings.
  • A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach to support.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Willingness to adapt and respond to the needs of individual learners.
  • Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
  • A full, up-to-date CV with explanations for any gaps in employment over the last 10 years.
