Manufacturing Execution System (MES) Engineer  

Chippenham

£43,000 – £46,000 (DOE) 

6 Months contract 

Monday – Friday (flexible hours, early finish Friday possible)

The role would suit experienced MES / Manufacturing Execution System Engineers who have genuine hands-on experience implementing or supporting an MES platform (Aegis FactoryLogix, Siemens Opcenter, or Critical Manufacturing) within an electronics manufacturing environment. It is essential that you have worked extensively with PCB/PCBA production data including Gerber, ODB++, BOM structures and ECAD-to-MES integration. 

Candidates with rail, aerospace or high-reliability sector experience will have a significant advantage.
You will be responsible for the configuration, maintenance and continuous improvement of the site MES, ensuring seamless flow of accurate manufacturing data from design release through to the SMT and assembly lines in a safety-critical production facility.

The Role: 

  • Configure and maintain the MES platform (routings, workflows, revisions, NPI packages)
  • Import, validate and manage Gerber, ODB++ and other ECAD/MCAD manufacturing data 
  • Build and control BOM structures and production data packages within the MES – Write and optimise SQL queries; manage large traceability datasets
  • Support New Product Introduction and design-to-manufacturing hand-off 
  • Troubleshoot MES issues on the shop floor and provide technical support to production
  • Drive data-driven continuous improvement initiatives 
  • Collaborate with engineering, quality, production and IT/OT teams


The Person: 

  • Proven hands-on experience with Aegis FactoryLogix, Siemens Opcenter or Critical Manufacturing MES 
  • Strong electronics manufacturing background (PCB fabrication and PCBA assembly processes) 
  • In-depth working knowledge of Gerber (GBR), ODB++ and structured manufacturing data
  • Confident writing SQL and handling large production databases 
  • Solid understanding of IT/OT infrastructure in a manufacturing environment 
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills 
  • Degree qualified in Engineering, Computer Science or related discipline preferred 
  • Previous experience in rail, aerospace, automotive Tier-1 or medical electronics highly advantageous 
  • Knowledge of ERP integration and Industry 4.0 concepts beneficial
