Mechanical Design Engineer

DK Recruitment are recruiting on behalf of a fast-pacedmanufacturing business that is looking to strengthen its engineering team with the addition of a Mechanical Design Engineer.

This is an excellent opportunity for a design-focused engineer who enjoys working in a dynamic environment where designs move quickly from concept to production.

The Role
As Mechanical Design Engineer, you will support new product development, continuous improvement, and manufacturing projects. You will work closely with production, quality, and supply chain teams to deliver practical, cost-effective designs that meet demanding timescales.

Key Responsibilities

• Mechanical design of components and assemblies from concept through to manufacture

• Creation of 3D CAD models, detailed drawings, and BOMs

• Supporting NPI, DFM/DFA, and manufacturing optimisation activities

• Liaising with internal stakeholders and external suppliers to resolve design issues

• Conducting basic calculations, tolerancing, and material selection

• Supporting continuous improvement and cost-reduction initiatives

• Ensuring compliance with relevant standards and procedures

Candidate Profile

• Degree or HND/HNC in Mechanical Engineering or similar

• Proven experience in a manufacturing-based mechanical design role

• Strong 3D CAD skills (SolidWorks, Inventor, Creo, or similar)

• Good understanding of manufacturing processes (machining, fabrication, assembly, etc.)

• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment

• Practical, hands-on and solutions-focused approach
