Our client, a well-established boutique accountancy firm based in Surrey, is looking for a dedicated Personal Tax Senior to join their close-knit, high-performing private client team. Known for their personable service and long-standing client relationships, this is an ideal opportunity for someone looking to make a real impact in a firm that values quality, autonomy, and work-life balance.

As a Personal Tax Senior, you'll take ownership of a diverse portfolio of personal tax clients including HNWIs, sole traders, landlords, directors, and non-domiciled individuals. The focus is primarily on compliance, with exposure to advisory work as you grow in the role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and review Self-Assessment tax returns for a portfolio of personal tax clients

  • Liaise directly with clients, HMRC, and internal teams to ensure smooth compliance cycles

  • Assist with Capital Gains Tax, rental income, pension planning, and residency-related queries

  • Provide mentoring and support to junior staff or trainees

  • Stay current with UK tax legislation and advise clients on relevant developments

  • Opportunity to assist partners with ad hoc advisory projects (e.g., IHT planning, trust structures)

Ideal Candidate:

  • ATT qualified (or near-qualified); CTA part-qualified or qualified desirable but not essential

  • Minimum 3-4 years' experience in a UK practice environment focusing on personal tax

  • Excellent technical knowledge and attention to detail

  • Confident communicator with a client-centric approach

  • Experience with tax software such as CCH, Digita, or IRIS preferred
