Commissioning Engineer – Water Framework (Wastewater & Process Commissioning)

 

Surrey | Contract -  6-Month Rolling | Up to £500/day (Outside IR35, Ltd Company)

 

A civil engineering business is looking for an experienced Commissioning Engineer to join their team delivering major AMP8 water and wastewater projects across the Southeast.

 

This is a rolling six-month contract offering the opportunity to lead commissioning activities on live wastewater sites — with a particular focus on chemical dosing systems, MEICA installations, and process upgrades. You’ll play a key part in bringing critical assets into service safely and efficiently, supporting the client’s long-term investment in environmental and network resilience.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead end-to-end commissioning delivery across wastewater treatment and process improvement schemes.
  • Develop commissioning strategies, plans, and reports from early design through to site handover.
  • Coordinate testing and integration with existing assets, ensuring compliance with WIMES and client standards.
  • Oversee subcontractors and on-site teams to maintain quality, safety, and programme targets.
  • Liaise with client operations teams to support smooth transition and asset adoption.
  • Manage technical documentation, training, and defect resolution.

Requirements:

  • Strong commissioning background within the water or utilities sector (MEICA, electrical, or process bias).
  • Proven understanding of water industry processes, health & safety, and CDM compliance.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Confident using Microsoft Office for progress tracking and reporting.

 

Required Certifications & Qualifications:

  • CSCS or ECS Card (relevant discipline)
  • EUSR National Water Hygiene Card
  • SSSTS (minimum) or SMSTS (preferred)
  • BS7671 – 18th Edition (Electrical Installations)
  • First Aid at Work (preferred)
  • Thames Water Passport (advantageous)

 

Details:

Location: Surrey (GU19 5AT)

Rate: Up to £500 per day (Outside IR35, Ltd Company engagement)

Contract: 6-month rolling, likely to extend through AMP8 delivery

Hours: 07:30 – 17:30, Monday to Friday
