Job Title: Commercial Building Surveyor (6-Month Interim)

About the Role
Surrey Council is seeking an experienced and driven Commercial Building Surveyor to join our dynamic commercial team for an initial 6-month period, with the possibility of extension. This is a fantastic opportunity for an individual with strong contract management experience and a track record of delivering projects across a diverse commercial portfolio.
As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for managing a wide range of projects - from small-scale repairs to large-scale developments, including heritage buildings, offices, retail spaces, multi-storey car parks, and more. With project values ranging up to 900k, you will oversee procurement, delivery, and the successful completion of projects from start to finish.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage a range of commercial building projects, including repairs, refurbishments, and new developments.
Oversee and manage contract administration, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.
Work closely with procurement teams to ensure effective sourcing and tendering processes.
Coordinate and supervise site activities, ensuring compliance with all regulations and standards.
Maintain strong communication with key stakeholders, ensuring client satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.
Prepare and write reports, bids, and tender documents as required.
Conduct site inspections and provide expert advice on commercial property matters.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:
Essential:
Strong contract management experience, particularly in the commercial building sector.
Proven experience in managing projects from inception through to completion, with the ability to handle a range of project sizes and complexities.
Experience in procurement and tendering processes.
Ability to manage a diverse portfolio, including offices, retail spaces, and heritage buildings.
Desirable:
Experience working on multi-storey car park projects, especially with barrier works or convection projects.
CIOB or RICS membership is preferred, though not essential if you have relevant experience in the field.
Public sector experience is a plus, but not mandatory.
