GSL are working closely with an Alternative Education Provision based in Surrey, who are dedicated to supporting young vulnerable people,  using sport and creative engagement to improve their life skills. The post is to start as soon as possible, and you will be required to work during term time until the end of the academic year, with the possibility of becoming a permanent member of staff. 

We are currently seeking a passionate and experienced Functional Skills Intervention Teacher to support pupils aged 11–16 with SEMH, ADHD, and ASC in a nurturing and structured setting in Surrey. This is a key leadership role, ideal for someone with strong subject knowledge and the ability to deliver Maths and English at Functional Skills level to small groups of pupils (8–10 per class), with the support of Teaching Assistants in every session.

This great opportunity would suit an educator with previous experience in SEN settings, especially working with pupils who are unable to access mainstream education due to SEMH, SEND or exclusions.

Key Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
  • Previous experience teaching Functional Skills Maths and English
  • Experience working in SEN or Alternative Provision settings (preferable)
  • Ability to lead small group interventions with a focus on pupil wellbeing and academic progress
  • An enhanced DBS on the update service is essential
