Job Title: Pastoral Tutor – Construction and Motor Vehicle Department
Location: South Thames Colleges Group, Carshalton Campus
Contract: 2-Week Ongoing Contract (Immediate Start)

Job Purpose

The Pastoral Tutor will provide dedicated support to students within the Construction and Motor Vehicle Department, ensuring they are fully engaged in their studies and supported in their personal development. The role focuses on student welfare, progression, and success.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide pastoral support to Construction and Motor Vehicle students, promoting wellbeing, engagement, and positive behaviour.

  • Deliver group sessions and one-to-one tutorials to support students’ personal, social, and academic development.

  • Monitor attendance, progress, and engagement, intervening where necessary to remove barriers to learning.

  • Liaise with teaching staff, support services, and external agencies to ensure students receive appropriate guidance and assistance.

  • Support the delivery of enrichment activities and contribute to the wider student experience.

  • Maintain accurate records of student interactions, progress, and support provided.

Requirements
  • Experience working with young people in an educational, pastoral, or support capacity.

  • Understanding of issues affecting students in Further Education, particularly within vocational areas.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to motivate and engage learners.

  • Ability to manage sensitive situations with discretion and professionalism.

  • A proactive approach to supporting student welfare, safeguarding, and progression.
