Responsibilities:

  • Once in post, you're responsible children and young people from abuse, neglect, and exploitation.
  • You will conduct thorough assessments of children and families where there are concerns about abuse or neglect.
  • You may gather information from various sources, including the child, family members, schools, healthcare providers and other relevant parties, to evaluate the level of risk and determine appropriate interventions.
  • You will develop and implement child protection plans aimed at mitigating risks and ensuring the safety of children.
  • For best practise, you will be up to date with modern legislation along with council policy & processes.
  • You will ensure all administration, is typed up clearly to a high standard, as to be presented in the court arena.
  • You may foster good relationships with legal services and local family courts to manage efficient and effective legal planning meetings, public law outlines & court proceedings, where attempts to support children to remain within their families have not been successful.
  • You will become an advocate for the best interests of the children within your caseload and ensure that safeguarding measures are effectively implemented.
  • You'll aim to engage in preventative work, such as delivering training & awareness-raising initiatives within communities, schools and other settings to promote early identification of risks and improve safeguarding practices.

Essential Requirements:

  • Must have degree in Social Work & completion of ASYE
  • Must have 3 Years accumulative permanent experience in an English LA
  • Must have 3 Years experience, working with Children & Families
  • Must be registered with SWE
  • Must be willing to process an Enhanced DBS if offered. (N/A if on DBS Online Update Service)
  • Must have full UK drivers license with access to own car(Surrey CC is a rural county, therefore use of personal care is essential)A commitment to upholding the highest standards of professional ethics and integrity.
