We are seeking a proactive and dedicated Utilities Services Technician to join our client's team in Surrey. This role plays a vital part in supporting highway maintenance operations by helping to prevent utility service strikes, promoting safety on-site, and ensuring effective planning around existing infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
路 Carry out utility surveys across designated sites, identifying underground and overhead services
路 Advise operational teams on safe excavation techniques and service avoidance measures
路 Support teams in tracing, locating, and managing buried and visible utility assets
路 Liaise with contractors, local authorities, and other stakeholders to ensure best practice and safety compliance
路 Keep detailed and accurate records of all findings, utility data, and any interventions
路 Contribute to risk assessments and method statements related to utility works
路 Provide updates and reports to supervisors and project managers as required
Skills & Experience
路 Previous experience in utilities, civil engineering, highways, or a related field (preferred)
路 Strong understanding of service avoidance and health & safety requirements
路 Ability to read and interpret utility drawings and digital mapping systems
路 Good communication skills and confidence working with a range of stakeholders
路 Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to record-keeping
路 Relevant training or certifications (e.g., CAT & Genny, NRSWA) beneficial but not essential
