- Lead and oversee tax service delivery, ensuring technical accuracy, commercial value, and excellent client experience.
- Act as the go-to expert on complex tax areas including R&D, SEIS/EIS, EMI schemes, international structuring, and employment-related securities.
- Maintain and develop internal technical standards, review processes, and ensure consistent, high-quality output.
- Provide strategic tax planning advice to Founders, CEOs, CFOs, and investors, aligning with business objectives.
- Manage client relationships, addressing escalated queries and identifying opportunities for value-add through structuring and incentives.
- Lead and grow the R&D tax function, ensuring robust, compliant claims and guiding clients through the process.
- Support VAT and transfer pricing advice, especially for tech businesses with international operations.
- Oversee personal tax matters, offering advice and reviewing complex returns for Founders, investors, and employees.
- Design and deliver tax training, mentoring the team and supporting cross-functional knowledge sharing.
- Support business development, marketing, and upselling of advisory services including R&D, EMI, and structuring.
- Ensure tax compliance and risk management, maintaining high standards for documentation and responding to HMRC enquiries.
- Lead operational functions, including recruitment, team management, process improvement, and performance reviews.
- CTA qualified with at least 3 years post qualified experience working in an UK Accountancy Firm.
- Deep knowledge of UK corporate tax legislation, particularly in the context of start-ups, SMEs and high-growth tech businesses.
- Proven experience in preparing and reviewing R&D tax claims and handling HMRC enquiries, with a confident understanding of current legislative and compliance expectations.
- Familiarity with SEIS/EIS, EMI schemes / employment related securities, international structuring and founder exit planning is essential, given the innovative nature of the firm’s client base.
- Experience managing and developing a small team.
- Strong understanding of the full suite of compliance services offered by the company, including year-end accounts, VAT and payroll.
