National Account Manager – Retail & New Business Development

Location: Commutable distance to Leeds, West Yorkshire

Salary: £42,000 - £45,000 base + performance-based incentives

The Role

We’re looking for a commercially driven NationalAccount Manager to grow our retail partnerships and secure new business. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on building trusted client relationships, delivering tangible results, and spotting opportunities in the market to add value. You’ll be the key link between our customers and our in-house sourcing, marketing, and supply chain teams — ensuring every solution reflects OTL’s reputation for quality and expertise.

Key Responsibilities

Account Management

  • Manage and grow relationships with existing retail clients, ensuring satisfaction, loyalty and profitability.
  • Act as the main point of contact for accounts, resolving issues quickly and ensuring seamless operations.
  • Understand each client’s business goals and develop tailored solutions that deliver measurable results.
  • Regularly review account performance and implement strategies to drive growth.

New Business Development

  • Identify and win new business opportunities within the retail sector.
  • Build a strong pipeline through networking, research, and lead generation.
  • Present compelling, value-driven solutions and manage the full sales cycle from pitch to close.
  • Deliver strategic business development plans to expand OTL’s retail client base.

Sales & Performance

  • Consistently meet or exceed sales targets across both existing accounts and new opportunities.
  • Track performance and provide accurate reporting to senior management.
  • Work closely with marketing, sourcing, and product teams to ensure OTL’s offer stays aligned with market trends.

Collaboration & Reporting

  • Partner with internal teams to ensure projects are delivered on time, to specification, and within budget.
  • Share market insight and client feedback to help shape OTL’s product and service offering.

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven experience in national account management, ideally within FMCG, retail or a related industry.
  • A successful track record in new business development and sales growth.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills with clients at all levels.
  • Commercially minded, results-focused and highly self-motivated.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Strategic thinker with creative problem-solving ability.
  • Proficiency with CRM systems and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint).
  • Holds a full UK driving licence and can travel nationwide- meeting existing and potential clients.

Desirable:

  • Experience working directly with retail or wholesale clients.
  • Understanding of retail industry trends and competitor landscape.
  • A relevant qualification in business, marketing, or similar is advantageous but not essential
