Sales Manager – Resale (Maternity Cover)

The Role
The company are seeking a highly motivated, organised and detail-oriented individual to join their growing team. As an integral part of the team you will lead the growth of our speciality range of natural ingredients through their distribution partners. This role is ideal if you are looking to make a real difference, hold important pipeline update meetings, deliver key insights and training to their resellers sales teams and ensure that both their Business Development managers are busy with prospecting visits.Â
A key part of the company is to be out in front of customers, holding meetings that allow them to find innovative solutions at pace, delivered with personality. You will have direct responsibility for the distribution network within their portfolio. You will hold an in depth, up to date understanding on market conditions and trends, understand the opportunities, launches, innovation and sustainability credentials that are important to each brand and formulation and adapt joint business plans with each territory to ensure strategic goals are achieved for both parties. Â

Key Responsibilities
To be successful in your role you will be required to competently complete a variety of core duties which will include the below. These will be supplemented by other tasks deemed appropriate by your line manager:  Â
- Account Management - You will manage the account relationships directly with their key distribution partners globally. This will include responsibility for budget delivery of the network against current expectations through creation, amendment and delivery of robust SMART business plans and aligned action focused tasks. You will endeavour to understand the specific needs of each individual opportunity and customer project and ensure that they are meeting these accurately making them their supplier of choice. Managing the pipeline of current business and new opportunities/territories is a key part of this role, gaining in depth insight into each project, including customer requirements, their process and timelines and their solutions. Keeping this up to date in their tracking system and ensuring reporting is available on this to allow for effective business planning and budgeting processes. You will ensure the delivery of a high-quality customer experience, addressing any enquiries, issues or concerns promptly as they are known for their pace and ability to find solutions quickly.
- Relationship Building, Meetings & Territory Visits - You will be the face of Stephenson for their distribution network. You will both visit them in person, carry out remote meetings with each territory to manage and drive successful pipelines and arrange and attend joint meetings with brands. Their superpower is customer proximity and they have a unique relationship that allows them to add value to all parties within the manufacturer, reseller and brand triangle.
- Market Intelligence & Product Inspiration – Being at the forefront of the latest trends and market insights you will be able to inspire brands and distributors alike to trial their product offering as a tailored fit for their NPD pipeline. You will be competent in cross-selling opportunities as well as inspiring completely new projects from a comprehensive sales pitch that you have created and delivered, tailored to the customer themselves.
Skills and Qualifications
- You will have over 3+ years together with a proven track record as an experienced Sales Manager to drive sales in a fast paced environment! Ideally you will have experience working within the Personal Care, Beauty or Chemical Manufacturing Industry, but this is not essential.
- You are driven and motivated by achieving targets in line with KPIs, whilst having the experience of high level negotiations within a consultative sales process and formulating contracts with multiple facets.
- You have an understanding of personal care or the chemical industry with a bias for brands and manufacturing. You will be able to learn the basic chemistry detail and have the ability to communicate technical information within a commercial setting to aid the technical sell, affirming their position as technical experts within solid format personal care applications.
- You will be exceptionally organised, have strong numeracy skills, and the desire and passion for finding creative and long term solutions and partnerships between Stephenson and their customers. Â
- You will prioritise tasks and handle multiple projects simultaneously, with an enthusiasm for continuous improvement.
- You will have great project management skills and understand the different engagement styles needed between presenting to the Leadership Team or working with their production teams… so it goes without saying that strong communication and interpersonal skills are a must, and with an analytical mind, you’ll be able to digest data and reach conclusions!
- You are flexible and committed to travel internationally when required.
