Sonic Summary

info
  • The role is ideal for Civil or Chemical Engineering graduates who enjoy problem-solving and want to contribute to environmental efforts.
  • You will use InfoWorks ICM software to model storm and wastewater networks, with training provided if you lack experience in this area.
  • The position requires a degree in engineering, preferably Civil, with a salary of £30,000 and no specific prior experience required.
  • You will work in north-west Leeds, with an office-based role and occasional client visits, while having the potential for some remote work in the future.
  • Interested candidates are encouraged to apply as soon as possible, with start dates available immediately.

If youre a Civil or Chemical Engineering graduate who enjoys solving problems, then this role could be ideal for you. And youll also be doing your bit for the environment.

Youll be using a piece of software called InfoWorks ICM to model storm and wastewater networks. Bonus points if youve used it already (or done anything related to 'open channel modelling' or 'open channel flow modelling'), but its not a problem if not- youll be trained in using it.

The idea is to model actual sewers, and identify possible issues that may come up; for example, if excess water is going into them and causing an overflow. Then youll make recommendations to the clients (utility companies) so they can address it.

Youll be playing a direct role in preventing sewage going into our beautiful sea, including in high-profile tourism areas.

Over the last 6 years the business has taken on around 15 graduates; and most are still there, which is something to be proud of.

The feedback from those graduates is that management are supportive, and everyone gets on well together. And they have different problems to solve every day; which makes the work very interesting.

WHAT YOULL NEED

Dont worry if youve not done anything like this as full training will be provided

Your degree should be engineering based- ideally Civil. Second choice would be Chemical.

Others such as Aerospace or Mechanical may be considered if you can make a good case.

You should be able to demonstrate good numerical reasoning and attention to detail. If you have some Hydraulics knowledge that would be ideal, but if not it can be trained.

You will gain good engineering experience and quickly develop specialised knowledge.

WHERE YOULL BE DOING IT

The location is north-west Leeds, and has good bus routes. Its also near to Bradford. It's preferred that you are already based in commuting distance, or are easily able to relocate due to connections there.

Youll be office based, but in time there may be some scope to work from home part of the time.

You will also be visiting your business client once or twice a month, for a day at a time (going and coming back the same day).

WHAT TO DO NEXT

Start date is as soon as possible, so if youre interested please apply asap so you dont miss out.

The role and business will be discussed in more depth with candidates who are a good initial match.
