About the Project:

We are seeking a proactive and personable Freelance Client Liaison Officer to support a high-profile cycle path infrastructure project in Headingley, Leeds. This 12-month initiative will enhance sustainable transport links and improve the local environment. The role is essential in maintaining strong communication between the project team, local stakeholders, and the wider community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the primary point of contact between the project team and local stakeholders, including residents, businesses, community groups, and local authorities.

  • Proactively manage and respond to queries, complaints, and feedback from the public and stakeholders in a timely and professional manner.

  • Coordinate and attend community engagement events, consultations, and public meetings.

  • Provide regular project updates to stakeholders through newsletters, briefings, and digital communications.

  • Work closely with the construction and design teams to ensure community considerations are factored into delivery.

  • Maintain detailed records of stakeholder interactions and feedback.

  • Monitor and report on stakeholder sentiment, escalating concerns where appropriate.

Required Experience & Skills:

  • Proven experience in a client liaison, community engagement, or stakeholder communications role—ideally within infrastructure, construction, or local government projects.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to adapt messaging for different audiences.

  • Experience resolving conflict and managing sensitive or high-profile community concerns.

  • Ability to work independently, manage workload, and meet deadlines without direct supervision.

  • Familiarity with planning and development processes is advantageous.

  • Knowledge of the local area (Headingley, Leeds) and its community dynamics is a plus.
