Consultant Ecologist - Leeds

Salary: 30,000 - 35,000 (depending on experience)

Are you an experienced ecologist looking to take the next step in your career? Our client, a respected environmental consultancy with a reputation for delivering high-quality, science-led ecological solutions, is seeking a Consultant Ecologist to join their growing team in Leeds.



The Role

You'll work on a diverse range of projects across sectors such as infrastructure, renewables, and development, providing ecological expertise and supporting the delivery of environmental assessments. The role offers an exciting mix of fieldwork and technical reporting, with opportunities to develop your project management and client liaison skills.



Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct and manage ecological surveys (e.g., habitat, protected species, and baseline assessments)

  • Prepare high-quality technical reports, including EcIA and habitat management plans

  • Support the preparation of mitigation and enhancement strategies

  • Liaise with clients, regulators, and stakeholders to support project delivery

  • Contribute to the continued growth and success of the ecology team



About You

  • Degree in Ecology or a related environmental discipline

  • At least 2 years' relevant consultancy experience

  • Demonstrable experience in ecological survey design and delivery

  • Protected species licences (e.g., GCN, bat) desirable but not essential

  • Strong report writing and communication skills

  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel for site work
