- Supervise and support the legal cashiers, ensuring accurate and efficient service delivery.
- Conduct appraisals and manage the performance of legal cashiers.
- Ensure full compliance with SRA Accounts Rules and HMRC regulations.
- Implement or improve internal control and accounting processes as necessary.
- Collaborate with the Practice Manager and other managers to ensure best practices are effectively and efficiently delivered across the firm.
- Train and mentor new and existing staff on identified training needs.
- Manage nominal ledger and journal postings for the office account.
- Prepare and submit quarterly VAT returns and manage cash flow.
- Oversee supplier invoices, address anomalies, and ensure financial activities related to case accounts are accurate and compliant.
- Verify and process client and office accounting transactions including bank reconciliations, supplier invoices, and payments.
- Handle complex conveyancing transactions and manage a high volume of transactions.
- Liaise with external auditors for the Solicitors Accounts Rules Audit and handle enquiries from colleagues, banks, and accountants.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Legal Cashier or equivalent, with supervisory or team leader experience.
- In-depth knowledge of financial and accounting processes and procedures.
- Strong analytical skills and numerical aptitude.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to use diplomacy and tact.
- Proficiency in MS Office and email.
- Ability to work independently, establish priorities, and manage workload.
- In-depth and up-to-date knowledge of SRA Accounts rules and anti-money laundering regulations.
