- Own execution and quality of all US-facing services, including:
- Payroll (e.g. Gusto, Rippling)
- Federal and state tax filings (especially Delaware)
- Sales tax compliance
- Year-end financials and reporting
- Act as lead technical contact for US clients
- Collaborate with UK teams on intercompany accounting, FX, and cross-border alignment
- Monitor and implement regulatory changes
- Lead evaluation and rollout of US-compatible tools (e.g. Xero integrations)
- Trial and refine workflows before scaling
- Identify automation opportunities and build scalable systems
- Manage onboarding and ongoing support for US clients
- Partner with UK Client Managers for seamless global service
- Ensure proactive communication and resolution with US stakeholders
- Build and lead a US accounting team (hiring, training, performance)
- Develop SOPs and training materials
- Mentor junior staff to ensure high standards
- Advise leadership on US tax trends and global structuring
- Support US market presence and sales conversations
- Collaborate on upselling strategies and client expansion opportunities
- CPA-qualified (or equivalent) with a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field, and 5+ years in a US-focused finance leadership role with strong knowledge of US GAAP, corporate tax, multi-state sales tax, and payroll systems (e.g. Gusto, Rippling).
- Familiar with US tech startups and cloud-based accounting tools like Xero; experienced in trialling new technologies and creating scalable, tech-enabled workflows.
- Skilled in client and complaint management, with strong communication and relationship-building abilities; capable of managing a remote team’s workload, schedules, and performance effectively.
- Adaptable, organised, and self-motivated, with strong time management; excels in fast-paced environments and is proficient in IT tools (Excel, Word, Outlook), with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
