Our client is seeking a motivated and detail-focused Estimator to join their growing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for compiling accurate and timely cost estimates for the supply of products and services. This includes calculating project costs and supporting the preparation of budgets for a range of commercial fit-out projects.

Applicants must have a background in interiors or partitioning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and analyse tender documentation to produce detailed cost, material, labour, and time estimates
  • Evaluate the cost-effectiveness of products and services, monitoring actual costs against initial bids
  • Liaise with clients, suppliers, and internal departments to gather information and resolve queries
  • Update and adjust estimates as required during the tender process
  • Prepare costings for management to support planning and scheduling decisions
  • Produce priced Bills of Quantities and Preliminaries
  • Assist in the selection and assessment of suppliers and subcontractors
  • Evaluate material and labour needs to determine cost-efficient production or purchasing options
  • Maintain accurate expenditure records and reports throughout the project lifecycle
  • Contribute to cost reviews and initiatives aimed at standardisation or cost reduction
  • Support the tender process and participate in commercial negotiations
  • Ensure a clear and effective handover of secured tenders to the delivery team
  • Stay informed about current market trends, pricing, and materials
  • Handle sensitive information in line with data protection regulations
  • Complete administrative tasks accurately and within required deadlines
  • Work independently and manage workload effectively
  • Demonstrate a commitment to personal development within the role

Person Specification

Essential Skills and Attributes:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organisational ability with attention to detail
  • Self-driven and capable of working independently
  • A proactive and professional attitude
  • A genuine interest in the construction and interiors industry

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Degree (or equivalent) in Commercial Management
  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Project)
  • Experience using Conquest Estimating Software (desirable)
  • Prior experience in estimating within the interiors or partitioning sector is essential
  • Familiarity with technical drawings, architectural plans, and specifications
  • Experience managing budgets and contributing to financial planning
