A great opportunity has arisen for a health and safety advisor to join a leading manufacturing company who have a clear progression plan and supportive management system.

Job Description:

  • Assist in maintaining COMAH compliance, including preparation and updates of Safety Reports and the Major Accident Prevention Policy (MAPP).
  • Support site inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify and mitigate major hazards.
  • Contribute to emergency response planning and coordination with local authorities.
  • Maintain accurate safety documentation, including inspection records, incident reports, and training logs.
  • Participate in incident investigations and support the development of corrective actions.
  • Facilitate safety training and awareness initiatives related to COMAH and site-specific protocols.
  • Liaise with internal teams and external regulators (e.g., HSE, Environment Agency) during audits and inspections.
  • Monitor operational controls to ensure risks are managed in line with ALARP principles and the site’s safety management system.
  • Support implementation of relevant standards such as ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.

Beneficial Skills / Qualifications:

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or related field.
  • Background in manufacturing / engineering
  • Basic understanding of COMAH regulations and hazardous substance management
  • Familiarity with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards (desirable).
  • Strong organisational and documentation skills.
  • Effective communicator with the ability to work across teams and with external bodies.
  • Proactive attitude and willingness to learn and grow within the H&S/COMAH framework.
