This company is facing a 1,000-person payroll with no one at the helm.

That's why they're bringing in an Interim Payroll Manager - someone who can get a grip fast, keep people paid, and take the reins on a move to outsource. You'll also play a key role in shaping a more cost-effective, scalable payroll setup going forward.

This is more than just running payroll. It's untangling what's there, working with a third-party provider to get outsourcing off the ground, and helping hire and hand over to a new junior admin.

You'll need:

  • End-to-end payroll ownership in a busy, high-volume business
  • Experience leading payroll outsourcing projects
  • Hands-on systems experience - ideally including implementation or configuration
  • Strong forecasting, budgeting, and payroll modelling skills
  • A track record of fixing and improving processes

Bonus points for:

  • CIPP qualification
  • Familiarity with P11Ds, pensions, and employee benefits
  • Excel skills that go beyond just vlookups
  • Experience hiring or mentoring junior team members

Start date is end of May or early June. You'll report to the Head of Finance but have plenty of space to own the function.
