About the Role

This is a fantastic opportunity for a technically experienced professional ready to take the next step into Solution Architecture. Our client is looking for someone eager to broaden their impact by shaping systems and solutions at an enterprise level. As part of the Group Architecture function, you'll work across software, infrastructure, data, and governance, helping to design, document, and guide the evolution of technology across a complex, fast-paced UK business.

This role is ideal for someone who has already been involved in solution design and stakeholder collaboration, and is now ready to take ownership of architecture decisions and contribute to long-term strategy.



How Youll Spend Your Day

You'll join a collaborative architecture team with the support to grow into the Solution Architect role while working on meaningful, large-scale projects. Key responsibilities include:

  • Contributing to System Design Support the creation and documentation of secure, scalable, and maintainable systems, ranging from feature enhancements to greenfield builds.
  • Supporting Technical Roadmaps Help shape target-state architectures and the transitional steps required to achieve them.
  • Creating Documentation Produce clear and structured technical artefacts to support shared understanding and implementation.
  • Participating in Technical Decisions Contribute to architectural decisions, weighing up cost, maintainability, security, and alignment with broader strategy.
  • Collaborating Across Teams Work with software engineers, infrastructure specialists, business stakeholders, and suppliers to gather requirements and ensure well-aligned solutions.
  • Focusing on Governance & Compliance Help ensure solutions meet internal standards and regulatory requirements, such as ISO27001.
  • Engaging in Design Reviews Present ideas and contribute to discussions in formal architecture governance settings.
  • Staying Technically Curious Explore new technologies, tools, and approaches through research and proof-of-concept activities.

What Youll Bring to the Role

  • Experience in software development, systems analysis, or technical leadership, with exposure to architectural thinking and design patterns.
  • A passion for solving complex technical challenges and shaping scalable, secure systems.
  • Strong communication skills able to engage both technical teams and business stakeholders with clarity and confidence.
  • Solid organisational skills, with the ability to balance competing priorities and deliver quality outcomes.
  • Technical knowledge of Microsoft technologies (e.g. .Net, C#, SQL Server, Azure).
  • Familiarity with system design and modelling tools such as ArchiMate or UML.
  • A good understanding of infrastructure and security principles, including Infrastructure as Code.
  • Working knowledge of data architecture, APIs, and software development methodologies (Agile and/or Waterfall).
  • A proactive mindset, a willingness to learn, and a desire to grow into a fully-fledged Solution Architect role.
