Mechanical Fitter

Location: Leeds
Salary:  £47,147 per year
Shift Pattern: 2 Days, 2 Nights, 4 Off
Permanent Position

Level 3 qualified Mechanical Fitters with an electrical appreciation and experience of working on diesel engines are required to join the rail industry.

Your New Opportunity

  • Perform mechanical maintenance and repairs on heavy diesel locomotives.
  • Diagnose and rectify faults across mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Work from written maintenance instructions (VMI) and engineering drawings to carry out examinations and inspection

The Candidate

  • Previous experience as a Mechanical Fitter in a heavy engineering environment.
  • Background in maintenance and examination work within sectors such as REME (ex-forces), HGV, buses/coaches, aircraft, large machinery, or ideally locomotives/rolling stock.
  • Comfortable working shifts (earlies, lates, nights).

Essential Criteria

  • Proven experience in maintenance and fault-finding within transport or plant-related engineering.
  • Level 3 qualification (or equivalent) in mechanical/electrical engineering.
  • Full UK driving licence or local to the depot.
  • Ability to pass a medical, drug & alcohol screening, and DBS check.

Salary
Base salary: £47,147 per year.
Additional £1,(Apply online only) per annum for train driving and shunting.
Up to 6 training modules available, each worth £1,500 per annum, offering potential earnings of £50,(Apply online only)+.
Training modules include: Shunter training, axle & bearing engineering, electrical fault-finding, and mentoring.
