About the role

A leading provider of title insurance is seeking an experienced Underwriter to join their Leeds office. As an Underwriter, you will play a key role in assessing residential property risks, making underwriting decisions within agreed authority levels, and supporting business growth across the UK. You will be involved in negotiating terms, managing risk exposure, and contributing to the ongoing development of underwriting products.

Key responsibilities

  • Underwrite residential risks within set authority limits.
  • Review and assess a range of property transactions, including purchase and sale, remortgages, lease extensions, and complex conveyancing matters.
  • Collaborate with solicitors, brokers, and internal teams to deliver tailored risk solutions.
  • Provide guidance and training to junior team members, enhancing their technical and commercial expertise.
  • Support product reviews and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.

Skills & experience

  • Experience in conveyancing, title insurance, or relevant property risk underwriting.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess risk effectively.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently while contributing to a team.
