Job Title: Senior or Principal Town Planner

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior or Principal Town Planner to join a highly regarded planning consultancy team in Leeds. This is an ideal role for a commercially minded planner with strong technical skills who is looking to work on high-profile, complex developments across the UK.

You'll be joining a well-established team known for advising private and public sector clients on a wide variety of projects - including major regeneration schemes, city centre redevelopment, strategic housing promotion, retail, logistics, student housing, sports and leisure developments, and the reuse of listed buildings.

About the Role:
You will take a leading role in delivering planning advice from early feasibility through to application, Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), and appeal. This role involves working closely with landowners, developers, institutional investors, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver commercially viable outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:
路Lead on the preparation and delivery of planning strategies, appraisals, and documentation
路Assess site planning histories and relevant local/national policy frameworks
路Draft clear and persuasive planning statements to support development proposals
路Represent clients in planning negotiations and at public consultations
路Attend site visits, client meetings, and design team discussions
路Manage project delivery, timelines, and budgets
路Collaborate with colleagues across disciplines such as transport, sustainability, and design
路Monitor planning applications and respond to consultation feedback

About You:
路Degree in Town Planning or a related discipline
路Chartered Membership of the RTPI (or NIPA)
路Solid knowledge and experience of the UK planning system
路Background in either private sector consultancy or local authority planning
路Excellent written and verbal communication skills
路Strong critical thinking and analytical skills
路A commercial and proactive approach to client engagement
路Passionate about contributing to a growing, collaborative team environment
