Location: Leeds

Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a highly regarded independent planning consultancy in their search for a Town Planner to join their expanding team in Leeds.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious and motivated planning professional to develop their career within a well established consultancy known for delivering expert planning advice across a wide range of residential, commercial, leisure, and mixed use developments. The successful Town Planner will gain exposure to an exciting variety of projects, working closely with senior colleagues and clients to deliver positive planning outcomes.

The Role
As a Town Planner, you'll play a key role in supporting and delivering planning consultancy services to a wide range of clients. You'll be involved in the preparation of planning applications, site appraisals, research, and planning policy analysis, contributing to a broad spectrum of projects across the region.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the preparation and submission of planning applications, appeals, and supporting documentation

  • Undertake site appraisals and research local planning policies

  • Prepare planning statements and design and access statements

  • Liaise with clients, local authorities, and key stakeholders

  • Provide advice and support to senior planners on complex projects

  • Contribute to business development and client relationship management

About You
We're looking for a proactive and enthusiastic Town Planner with a solid understanding of the UK planning system and a genuine passion for planning and development. You'll have excellent organisational skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering high quality work.

Requirements:

  • Degree and/or postgraduate qualification in Town Planning or a related discipline

  • MRTPI-qualified or working towards Chartership

  • Around 1-3 years of experience in planning, ideally within a consultancy or local authority

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Good understanding of UK planning legislation and policy

  • Ability to manage workloads effectively and meet deadlines

  • A positive, team oriented approach with strong interpersonal skills
