Senior Clinical Negligence Solicitor (Grade A/B or Equivalent)Location: Leeds/Hybrid Working

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a highly experienced Clinical Negligence Solicitor (Grade A or B/8+ years PQE) to join a nationally recognised law firm at its Leeds office. This leading firm, known for its expertise in serious injury and clinical negligence cases, is expanding its Clinical Negligence team and is looking for a Senior Lawyer to take on a key leadership and case-handling role.

You will join a dedicated and growing department specialising in complex and high-value clinical negligence claims. The team includes several accredited experts with recognition from APIL, AvMA and the Law Society Clinical Negligence Panel. This role will offer you the chance to work on challenging cases with a high degree of autonomy while supporting junior colleagues and contributing to the overall development and performance of the department.

Key Responsibilities:

Accountable for:

  • Managing a caseload of complex and high-value clinical negligence matters from instruction to resolution
  • Providing strategic guidance and support to the wider team, including supervision and mentoring of junior team members
  • Delivering exceptional client service and maintaining high levels of client care
  • Ensuring effective time recording and compliance with firmwide KPIs
  • Supporting the Team Leader in meeting financial and operational targets

Responsible for:

  • Liaising with clients, experts, counsel and other professionals throughout the litigation process
  • Drafting high-quality legal documentation including Letters of Claim, instructions to experts and pleadings
  • Negotiating settlements and, where necessary, issuing and serving proceedings
  • Collaborating with internal teams and external contacts to progress matters efficiently and commercially
  • Identifying cases ready for settlement or escalation and actively progressing files
  • Advising on technical and procedural matters within the team

Candidate Requirements:

  • Qualified Solicitor with a minimum of 8 years’ post-qualification experience in clinical negligence
  • Strong track record of independently managing complex clinical negligence claims
  • Excellent drafting, analytical and negotiation skills
  • Strong organisational and time management abilities
  • High levels of attention to detail and professional diligence
  • Confidence using modern case management systems and Microsoft Office
  • Commercially aware, with the ability to manage cases proactively and profitably
  • Strong leadership capabilities and willingness to mentor junior team members
  • Commitment to delivering excellent client care and maintaining professional standards
