Our client is a stalwart of the UK Removals and Storage Industrya multi-branch, long-term BAR member with a great reputation for quality. They are seeking a proactive and organised Assistant Branch Manager to support daily operations within the Leeds branch.
This role involves overseeing moving crews, coordinating transportation and storage logistics, ensuring high-quality customer service, and supporting the branch manager with team leadership, compliance, and process improvement. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in the removals, transportation, or logistics sector, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
Assist the Branch Manager in overseeing day-to-day branch operations.
Supervise and coordinate removal teams, drivers, and logistics staff to ensure timely and efficient service.
Plan, schedule, and dispatch vehicles and personnel for household, office, and commercial removals.
Conduct site surveys and risk assessments for removal jobs when required.
Manage inventory and storage logistics, ensuring proper handling and documentation.
Processing weekly wages to head office.
Completing and sending client invoices.
Credit control for the branch.
Provide excellent customer service, handling escalated customer issues and complaints professionally.
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, transport laws, and company policies.
Monitor and improve operational efficiency, cost control, and team performance.
Assist in training, mentoring, and evaluating staff.
Maintain accurate records of removals, deliveries, vehicle usage, and incident reports.
Support the Branch Manager with administrative duties, reporting, and audits.
Skills & Qualifications:
Exceptional attention to detail
Proven experience in the removals, logistics, or transportation industry (minimum 2 years preferred).
Previous supervisory or assistant management experience is desirable.
Strong leadership and team coordination skills.
Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
Good working knowledge of logistics planning, vehicle routing, and storage procedures.
Familiarity with health and safety practices in a transport/removals setting.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and logistics software (TMS, CRM, etc.).
Valid drivers license (commercial license preferred).
Working Conditions:
On-site and field-based work, including occasional lifting or assisting with removals.
May involve early mornings, late evenings, or weekends depending on job schedules.
Fast-paced environment with a need for flexibility and adaptability.
Preferred Qualifications:
Transport Manager Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) desirable, willing to train
First Aid or Health & Safety certification
Counterbalance forklift licence
