Are you a talented and experienced Civil Engineer looking for a rewarding opportunity within the residential housing development sector? Randstad is partnering with a large, reputable regional house builder with numerous ongoing and upcoming developments across West Yorkshire and East Yorkshire, including areas such as Leeds, Bradford, York, Hull, and surrounding towns.

This leading UK construction company, specialising in innovative residential construction and regeneration projects, is seeking a proactive Regional Engineer to play a key role in delivering high-quality homes for sale and rent. You'll collaborate with local authorities, housing associations, and other partners on diverse and engaging projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage external consultant designs for residential housing projects, ensuring seamless information flow to relevant teams.
  • Oversee civil engineering works on construction sites throughout West and East Yorkshire, providing technical guidance and resolving on-site queries.
  • Manage the adoption and handover process of completed sites, including roads, sewers, services, and management company land, to relevant authorities.
  • Ensure the timely delivery of accurate and cost-effective civil engineering design information for costing and construction phases.
  • Participate in monthly project reviews, providing comprehensive engineering updates to the project team.
  • Offer technical support on all engineering-related matters to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Assist all departments with internal drawing queries and interpretations.
  • Ensure compliance and rigorously check subcontractor design elements.
  • Drive value engineering initiatives for new residential sites, utilizing innovative design solutions and the latest engineering products.

What We're Looking For (Experience & Skills):

  • Strong working knowledge of local authority standards and regulations within Yorkshire.
  • Proven capabilities in undertaking Civil Engineering designs, including site level proposals, earthworks calculations, and sustainable drainage solutions (SuDS).
  • Demonstrable experience in effectively liaising with Architects, Clients, Sub-contractors, Supply Chain partners, and Product Manufacturers within the construction industry.
  • A solid understanding of current civil engineering techniques and a commitment to continuous professional development.
  • Excellent health and safety awareness with the confidence to challenge unsafe practices on site.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and LSS (or equivalent civil engineering design software).
  • Competence in using engineering survey instruments, including GPS, TPS, Grade Lasers, and Dumpy Levels.
  • Significant experience working on residential construction sites, possessing a strong understanding of construction methodologies up to damp proof course (DPC).
  • A good grasp of sectional agreements and processes, including Section 38, Section 104, and NAV agreements.
  • Ability to accurately check levels, conduct site surveys, take measurements, and quantify volumes of work.
  • Thorough understanding of the adoption process for infrastructure and associated timelines.
  • Ability to identify and snag construction defects for commercial and quality control purposes.

Qualifications:

  • HNC/HND or Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Valid CSCS Card.
