Job Title: Tutor / Assessor - Mechanical Engineering (Apprenticeships Level 3)

Salary: Up to £37,500 per annum

Are you passionate about shaping the future of Mechanical Engineering through high-quality education and mentorship? We are looking for two experienced and enthusiastic Tutor/Assessors to deliver and assess Level 3 Mechanical Engineering Apprenticeships.

This is a permanent full-time position, not suitable for temporary or contract-based candidates, due to the critical importance of employer engagement and learner continuity.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teaching: Deliver engaging classroom-based learning 2 days per week, covering a range of Mechanical Engineering topics tailored to apprentice needs.

  • Assessment: Conduct workplace assessments 2 days per week, supporting learners' progress and ensuring alignment with apprenticeship standards.

  • Administration & Planning: 1 day per week is allocated for preparation, paperwork, meetings, and continuous professional development.

  • Maintain regular and productive communication with employers to support apprentices' development and ensure curriculum relevance.

Essential Criteria
  • A recognised teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, CertEd, or equivalent).

  • An assessing qualification (e.g., TAQA, A1, D32/33) - preferred, but support will be provided to the right candidate to gain this qualification.

  • Apprentice-trained with a minimum of 6 years' industry experience in Mechanical Engineering.

Desirable Technical Teaching Experience(not all required, but any combination is advantageous)
  • Conventional Turning & Milling

  • Hand Fitting

  • Basic CNC Milling & Turning

  • CAD / CAM (including 3D Printing)

  • 6 Axis Robotics

  • Mechanical & Electrical Principles

  • Hydraulics & Pneumatics

  • Health & Safety, Communication, and Efficiency in Engineering
