About the Role:

This role offers the chance to work on AMP8 and AMP9 water sector projects, delivering detailed design solutions that support some of the UK's largest water companies. You'll be involved from feasibility through to detailed design, leading multidisciplinary collaboration and mentoring junior engineers.



About Our Client:

Our client is a leading UK consultancy with a strong and growing capability in mechanical and electrical engineering within the water sector. With a new Head of Design based in Leeds, they are expanding to support major frameworks, including projects worth over 100m.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the delivery of detailed mechanical design for water and wastewater projects.
  • Work across a variety of frameworks with major water companies and contractors.
  • Produce design deliverables including specifications, datasheets, P&IDs, reports, drawings, and procurement documentation.
  • Carry out asset condition surveys, prepare recommendations, and ensure compliance with CDM regulations.
  • Support and mentor junior engineers, providing technical governance and checking work.
  • Collaborate with clients, design teams, and stakeholders, contributing to technical reviews, HAZOPs, and ALMs.
  • Act as project manager, package manager, or design lead where required.


What Our Client is Looking For:

  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering (IMechE-accredited preferred).
  • Chartered or working towards chartership.
  • Strong water sector experience, with knowledge of treatment processes and site infrastructure.
  • Proficiency in pump selection, P&IDs, equipment scheduling, and design documentation.
  • Familiarity with CDM regulations and safe design practices.
  • Ability to manage work to time, cost, and quality standards.
  • Strong communication skills, with experience presenting to clients and leading design discussions.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD/Inventor is beneficial.
