Our client a leading manufacturing business working within the power distribution sector is looking to appoint a skilled and motivated Service Engineer. This is a fantastic opportunity for a hands-on engineer to play a key role in the installation, maintenance, testing, and commissioning of power distribution systems and equipment.
Working on customer sites across the region you'll be responsible for ensuring the reliable performance of LV/HV equipment, switchgear, transformers, and associated control systems. This is a field-based role that would suit someone with a background in electrical service engineering, particularly within power, utilities, or industrial environments.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Carry out installation, maintenance, servicing, and testing of low voltage (LV) and high voltage (HV) distribution equipment.
- Perform routine inspections and planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on switchgear, protection systems, control panels and generators.
- Support the commissioning of new systems, working alongside project managers and technical teams to bring systems online safely and efficiently.
- Diagnose and repair faults in electrical distribution equipment, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
- Work to strict health & safety protocols, including preparing and following risk assessments and method statements (RAMS).
- Provide on-site support and technical expertise to customers and contractors during system upgrades or breakdowns.
- Complete service reports, test documentation, and condition assessments in line with industry standards and company requirements.
The ideal candidate:
- Experience working with electrical distribution systems, ideally including LV/HV switchgear
- Recognised electrical qualifications
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations qualification (desirable).
- Competence in electrical fault-finding, diagnostics, and schematic interpretation.
- A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel regionally or nationally as required.
