About the Opportunity:

Are you an experienced Quantity Surveyor with a strong background in residential housebuilding? Randstad is delighted to partner with a leading national housebuilder renowned for their commitment to high-quality, energy-efficient new build homes and the creation of sustainable communities in the Leeds area. Due to continued expansion in West Yorkshire, they are seeking a proactive and commercially astute Quantity Surveyor to strengthen their dynamic Commercial team.

Reporting to the Senior Quantity Surveyor or Commercial Manager, you will take ownership of all commercial and surveying aspects for designated residential development sites in the Leeds region. Your key focus will be on effective cost management, ensuring projects are delivered within budget and targets are achieved through meticulous budget control and accurate valuations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement and maintain robust cost control procedures in accordance with Group policies.
  • Prepare timely and accurate weekly, monthly, and quarterly cost reports.
  • Stay informed about innovative construction materials and methods, relevant regulations, industry best practices, and NHBC requirements.
  • Take full responsibility for budget management and control, providing accurate estimated final costs and detailed cost-value reconciliations.
  • Efficiently process subcontractor orders, payments, and variations using Excel and the Group payment system (COINS).
  • Maintain a strong awareness of current building regulations, NHBC standards, HSE guidelines, and considerations for sustainable home construction.

Skills and Experience:

  • HND or degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related field.
  • Valid CSCS card is essential.
  • Proven understanding of current market rates and conditions within the residential construction sector.
  • Strong IT proficiency, including experience with project management software and valuation/payment systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute to the resolution of contractual disputes, project challenges, and cost-related issues.
  • Self-motivated with a proactive approach and the ability to take ownership of housing development projects.
  • Significant experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the housebuilding industry, ideally with new build projects.
