Teacher of Art and Design - Leeds

We are looking for a creative, committed, and forward-thinking Art and Design Teacher to join a vibrant and supportive secondary school in North Leeds. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate educator to empower young people through artistic exploration and innovative teaching.

About the Role:

In this role, you will deliver imaginative and engaging lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, contributing to a well-established Art and Design curriculum and supporting the development of GCSE students. You will play a key part in nurturing creative confidence, technical ability, and cultural awareness across a diverse and enthusiastic student body.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and teach high-quality lessons that inspire creativity and develop core artistic skills.
  • Encourage experimentation with a variety of media, materials, and styles.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, offering personalised feedback and support.
  • Guide students through their GCSE coursework and help them prepare for future creative pathways.
  • Contribute to the creative culture of the school through exhibitions, clubs, and community projects.
  • Maintain a welcoming, inclusive, and well-resourced studio environment.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
  • A degree in a relevant Art, Design, or creative discipline.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of both historical and contemporary art practices.
  • Strong classroom management and a commitment to inclusive, high-quality teaching.
  • A collaborative, reflective approach and a desire to be part of a thriving creative department.
