Teacher of Drama/Performing Arts - North Leeds

We are looking for a passionate Teacher of Drama/Performing Arts to join a vibrant and creative department at a progressive secondary school in North Leeds. This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated educator to nurture students talents, confidence, and love for the performing arts in a school that celebrates creativity and expression.

You will teach Drama across Key Stages 3 and 4, with opportunities to contribute at Key Stage 5. Beyond the classroom, you'll take a leading role in a thriving enrichment programme—directing productions, mentoring young performers, and helping to shape an inclusive and energetic performing arts culture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver inspiring and imaginative Drama lessons that spark creativity and engagement across all key stages

  • Design and implement innovative schemes of work that align with curriculum standards and showcase student voice

  • Lead and support school productions, performances, and extracurricular clubs

  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and collaborative learning environment that empowers students to express themselves confidently

  • Contribute to cross-curricular projects and school-wide events

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a degree in Drama, Theatre Studies, Performing Arts, or a closely related field

  • Experience teaching Drama at secondary level, with a strong understanding of GCSE and/or A-Level specifications

  • Strong classroom management and the ability to build positive, respectful relationships with students

  • Excellent communication and organisational skills, with a proactive approach to collaborative work

  • Enthusiasm for extracurricular involvement, including directing plays, musicals, or leading theatre workshops
