College Learning Support Assistant

Start: Summer Term 2025

Pay: £22,000 - £24,5000 per annum

The Role:

Veritas Education are working in partnership with a variety of college settings in the Leeds area, who are looking to recruit multiple learning support workers. The post 16 settings offer a range of vocational and further educational curriculums to all attending students, with internal plans and provisions in place to help support those learners requiring additional support.

As a learning support worker, you must be confident in supporting across a range of classes around the setting, helping children access their education, and helping them achieve academic and independent growth.

Throughout the role, learning support workers will need to be able to manage behaviour across the classroom, and on a 1:1 basis, helping manage disruptiveness within the lesson, keep learners focused and engaged, and de-escalate at risk or crisis behaviour.

The Applicant:

  • Comfortable working across a range of different learners, varying in academic and behaviour abilities.
  • Happy to support on a 1:1 basis, to provide extra academic support, or for behaviour management.
  • Confident in behaviour management, with previous experience supporting SEMH, behavioural and ADHD needs in learners who are 16+.
  • Someone who is willing to get stuck in with both academic and practical sessions, with the college offering a range of different qualifications and vocational avenues, the ideal candidate will get involved and help out as much as they can (Even if it's not their strongest subject!)
