SEN Higher Level Teaching Assistant

NextGen Teachers are working on behalf of a specialist SEN provision who are looking for a compassionate and experienced SEN HLTA to join their dedicated team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is committed to making a real difference in the lives of children with special educational needs. The provision is a nurturing and inclusive school where every child is valued and supported to achieve their full potential. As an SEN HLTA, you will play a key role in supporting pupils with a range of special educational needs, both in class and through targeted interventions. You will also work closely with teaching staff, the SENCO, and external professionals to deliver high-quality support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver tailored interventions to small groups or individual pupils
  • Support classroom teachers in adapting resources and strategies for SEN learners
  • Assist in monitoring progress and contributing to pupil reports and EHCP reviews
  • Provide pastoral support and help build pupils' confidence and independence
  • Model and promote inclusive practices across the school
  • Occasionally lead whole-class lessons under teacher direction, where appropriate

What We're Looking For:

  • HLTA status or equivalent experience in a school setting
  • A strong understanding of a range of special educational needs (e.g., ASD, ADHD, speech and language, SEMH)
  • A patient, nurturing approach and excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
