We are seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to work in one of our mainstream primary schools based in North Leeds. This is a long term role to start in January (possibly sooner!) until the end of the academic year. You will be supporting pupils across key stage 1 and key stage 2 with a wide range of needs , including, autism, ADHD and other learning difficulties.

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in helping pupils achieve their full potential-both academically and personally. You will work closely with teaching staff, therapists, and other professionals to provide tailored support, ensuring learners feel confident, included, safe, and able to succeed.

Responsibilities of a Learning Support Assistant:

  • Provide 1to1 and small group support to pupils with diverse learning and support needs
  • Promote independence, resilience, and confidence in the classroom and beyond
  • Assist with personal care and mobility where required
  • Support pupils with developing social,communication and life skills
  • Work collaboratively with staff to adapt resources and approaches to individual needs
  • Encourage a positive, safe, and inclusive environment

Requirements:

  • Previous experience as a Learning Support Assistant or in a similar SEND role is desirable
  • A compassionate, patient, and adaptable approach
  • Understanding of additional needs such as autism, ADHD, and other conditions
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people
  • DBS on the update service or willing to apply for one
