Financial Controller - Permanent - £60,000 - £70,000 per annum - LeicesterMacildowie are recruiting for a Financial Controller to join a well-established and evolving organisation on a permanent basis. This role is offered with a competitive salary of £60,000 - £70,000 and benefits from a hybrid working arrangement (34 days in the office).

This is a critical role with responsibility for overseeing the financial control environment, leading core financial processes, and ensuring the integrity of the company's reporting and compliance. You will manage a small team and work closely with leadership to deliver high-quality financial information that supports strategic planning and operational performance.

The successful candidate will bring a solid background in financial control, be technically strong, and have a keen eye for detail, combined with the ability to manage reporting cycles and support broader business goals.

Key Duties Include:

  • Managing the month-end close process, ensuring timely and accurate delivery
  • Producing full P&L and balance sheet reports with commentary and variance analysis
  • Overseeing transactional finance, VAT returns, and reconciliations
  • Driving improvements to internal controls, systems and reporting processes
  • Supporting budget and forecast processes in collaboration with FP&A
  • Acting as a key point of contact for auditors and contributing to year-end preparation
  • Providing insight and assurance to senior stakeholders across the business

Candidate Requirements:

  • Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) with at least 2 years' post-qualified experience
  • Proven experience in a Financial Controller or senior finance role
  • Strong technical reporting and compliance knowledge
  • Experience managing and developing finance teams
  • Excellent attention to detail with the ability to work to tight deadlines
  • Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with financial systems
