Our client is a dynamic and high growth SME group of companies operating with the Financial Services & Regulated Legal Sector with UK Head Office ideally located within Leicestershire.

As a result of continued expansion, FRS have been enlisted to assist with the recruitment of a Group Accountant to join the business.

This position is to he offered on a part time basis with agile working hours to suit however ideally totalling 25 to 32 hours per week with hybrid (home working) also being offered.

This is a key role within the Group and will support the CFO in the preparation of monthly management reports and annual statutory accounts for all companies within the group.

This role ensures compliance with FCA CASS regulations, manages VAT returns, payroll, bookkeeping, purchase ledger, sales ledger, budgeting, forecasting, banking, and cash flow. The Financial Accountant will play a vital role in maintaining the group's financial integrity and supporting operational decision-making

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Reporting & Analysis

  • Prepare and finalise monthly and year-end financial closings, including consolidated accounts and commentary.
  • Complete all relevant month and year-end adjustments: accruals, prepayments, fixed assets, intercompany transactions, and financial asset & liability adjustments.
  • Provide detailed monthly profit and loss (P&L) and balance sheet analysis, identifying key variances against budget and recommending improvements.

Accounting Operations

  • Maintain purchase and sales ledgers, including credit control.
  • Process staff expense payments and manage client payment approvals while ensuring strict adherence to FCA CASS compliance, including daily client account reconciliations.
  • Oversee intercompany postings, ensuring all company balances align.
  • Collaborate with external audit and tax teams to meet reporting requirements.

Payroll & Tax Compliance

  • Manage the relationship with the third-party payroll provider to ensure accurate monthly payroll processing, with a view to transitioning payroll in-house.
  • Prepare and submit quarterly VAT returns.

Cash Flow & Budget Management

  • Monitor and manage group cash balances to ensure compliance with internal policies and external covenants.
  • Assist in preparing, managing, and reviewing budgets to ensure effective financial planning.

Process & Policy Development

  • Document processes and accounting policies to strengthen internal controls and streamline operations.
  • Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and best practices as defined by the CFO.

Ad Hoc Projects

  • Support the CFO and Finance team with various ad hoc projects as required.

The ideal candidate will be a proactive and detail-oriented finance professional with a commitment to excellence. They will possess:

Qualifications & Experience

  • ACCA, CIMA, or ACA qualification (preferred).
  • Demonstrable experience in management and financial accounting with strong bookkeeping skills.
  • Familiarity with Xero accounting software and consolidation tools such as Joiin and May Day (desirable).

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
