Contracts and Services Officer

We are seeking a dedicated Contracts and Services Officer to support our Estates Manager in ensuring efficient and effective oversight of estates contracts and services. This role is crucial for maintaining high standards of health and safety, compliance, and contractor management within our estate.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Discharge key responsibilities under the Contract of Contractors procedure, considering the Health & Safety implications of each job and selecting competent contractors.
  • Manage health and safety arrangements for contractors, including issuing and controlling permits to work, producing and updating risk assessments, and hazard notification.
  • Ensure compliance with the controls detailed within the contractor risk assessment and method statement, both prior to the commencement of any work and through regular monitoring of ongoing works.
  • Handle the selection, induction, and management of contractors across the estate, ensuring compliance with the value for money and tendering requirements.
  • Ensure that, upon completion of works, all appropriate documentation is received and logged by the work completed is evaluated in accordance with the contract review processes.
  • Maintain central records for all regular maintenance and inspection works and ensure that required regular inspections are completed on a timely and cost-effective basis.
  • Assist the Associate Principal with oversight of all contracted out estates services, including catering and cleaning.
  • Support the Estates Manager with the planning for short and medium-term maintenance requirements and major building projects.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in contract management and services oversight, preferably within an educational or similar institutional setting.
  • Strong understanding of health and safety regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent organisational and project management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with a range of stakeholders, including contractors and college management.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
