Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and reliable Joiner to carry out second fix carpentry work within a care home setting. The role includes fitting kitchens, installing and maintaining fire doors, skirting, architraves, and general finishing joinery tasks. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of health and safety, especially in environments with vulnerable residents.
Key Responsibilities:

Carry out second fix joinery including door hanging, skirting boards, architraves, and handrails.

Install and maintain kitchens to high standards.

Fit, upgrade, and maintain fire doors in compliance with current fire safety regulations.

Ensure all joinery work is completed to a high standard and in line with current building codes.

Work respectfully and safely within live care home environments, minimizing disruption to residents.

Liaise with site managers, contractors, and care home staff to coordinate work schedules.

Follow site health and safety protocols and safeguarding procedures.

Record materials used and report any variations or issues on site.
Requirements:

Proven experience in second fix joinery and fire door installation.

NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Carpentry & Joinery (or equivalent).

Fire door awareness training or certification (preferred).

CSCS card (if required by site).

Strong knowledge of relevant safety and fire regulations.

Own tools and transport (if not provided).

Excellent attention to detail and finishing.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Desirable:

Experience working in care homes, hospitals, or similar sensitive environments.

Basic DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).

First Aid and Manual Handling training.
