As a teaching assistant focused on SEMH support, you will play a crucial role in helping pupils thrive in a small, nurturing educational setting. You'll collaborate closely with teaching staff to support students in managing their emotions, developing social skills, and engaging with learning in a positive and structured way.
Key Responsibilities of the Teaching Assistant - SEMH Support Role:

Provide one-to-one and group support for students with SEMH needs.

Use calm and consistent strategies to help pupils regulate their emotions and behaviour.

Promote a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment.

Work with the school team to develop and follow personalised behaviour and learning plans.

Encourage independence, confidence, and the development of life skills.

Support students in overcoming barriers to learning and promoting positive engagement.
What We're Looking For in a Teaching Assistant - SEMH Support:

Experience supporting children or young people with SEMH or other additional needs.

Background in any child-focused or youth-facing role (e.g. Youth Work, Sports Coaching, Residential Care, Social Work, Youth Offending, Probation, or similar).

Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build trusting relationships.
