Accounts Payable Team Lead

About the Role:We are seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Team Lead to manage a small, dynamic team, ensuring all supplier invoices, statement reconciliations, and reporting are completed promptly and accurately. The role involves not only managing day-to-day operations but also implementing process improvements and supporting the development of the team. You will also be responsible for ensuring compliance, handling supplier queries, and working cross-functionally with the buying and stock teams to resolve issues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee timely processing of supplier invoices, including resolving discrepancies and ensuring payments are processed accurately.

  • Act as the main escalation point for supplier issues.

  • Review monthly supplier reconciliations and ensure they cover all stock and top non-stock suppliers.

  • Approve invoices with variances, ensuring appropriate actions have been taken prior to posting.

  • Support the team in responding to supplier queries efficiently and effectively.

  • Work closely with the buying and stock teams to resolve price and quantity-related queries, including returns and credit adjustments.

  • Conduct regular 1:1 meetings to mentor and develop the team to maximize their potential.

  • Assist with cash flow forecasts and payment runs, providing accurate data to the Head of Financial Reporting.

  • Implement best practices to drive process improvement.

Skills & Attributes:

  • Must have proven experience managing a small team.

  • Experience in Accounts Payable and credit control.

  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage both financial and non-financial stakeholders.

  • Excellent Excel skills.

  • Experience with D365 Finance and Operations is a plus.

  • Collaborative approach to working with cross-functional teams.

  • Ability to support and implement process improvements.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in an Accounts Payable role with team leadership responsibility.

  • AAT qualification or working towards a financial qualification is desirable.
