Domestic Abuse Refuge Manager

Leicester

Salary: 30,800 per annum
Hours of work: Full-time, Permanent

In partnership with a highly respected charity, I am recruiting for Refuge Manager for a 24-hour domestic abuse refuge in Leicester. This essential service provides safety, stability, and hope to women and children escaping domestic violence.

This is a unique opportunity to lead a dedicated team within a values-driven organisation that champions the rights and recovery of survivors. If you're an experienced professional with a background in care or social welfare, this role offers the chance to make a real and lasting impact.

Key duties and responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage staff rotas, performance, and professional development
  • Oversee budgets and financial processes
  • Recruit, train, and support staff members
  • Assist residents with housing and benefit applications
  • Maintain accurate records and use internal systems effectively
  • Represent the service through presentations and stakeholder engagement
  • Build strong partnerships with local authorities, community groups, and other organisations

  • A relevant qualification or equivalent experience supporting vulnerable groups (women, children, survivors of domestic abuse)
  • At least 3 years' experience in a care or social welfare setting
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Fluency in English plus one main BAME language
  • Flexibility to work unsociable hours when required
  • Strong administrative and organisational skills
  • Ability to interpret and counsel effectively
  • Understanding of multi-agency working across statutory and voluntary sectors
  • Full UK driving licence, access to a vehicle, and business insurance
  • A clear Enhanced DBS check
