Penguin Recruitment is delighted to partner with a well-established and highly respected private planning consultancy based in Leicester. Renowned for delivering bespoke planning solutions across the East Midlands and beyond, this consultancy works on a diverse range of projects, including residential, commercial, heritage, and regeneration schemes.

We are seeking a motivated and ambitious Town Planner to join their friendly and collaborative team. This is an excellent opportunity for a planning professional looking to advance their career and gain hands-on experience across the full spectrum of planning consultancy work.



Responsibilities

As a Town Planner, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing and submitting planning applications, supporting documents, and planning statements.
  • Conducting site appraisals and planning policy research.
  • Liaising with clients, local authorities, and external consultants to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Attending site visits and representing clients at committee meetings or appeals, as required.
  • Contributing to business development efforts and maintaining strong client relationships.
  • Collaborating with senior colleagues to develop and implement effective planning strategies.


Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and skills:

  • A degree accredited by the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) and be working towards chartership (or recently chartered).
  • Experience in a private planning consultancy or local authority setting (preferred).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Confidence in engaging with clients and planning officers.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • A full UK driving licence (or working towards obtaining one).


Day-to-Day

Your day-to-day activities will involve:

  • Collaborating with a supportive and experienced team to deliver high-quality planning services.
  • Managing a variety of projects, from initial site appraisals to planning application submissions.
  • Engaging with clients and stakeholders to provide expert advice and tailored solutions.
  • Conducting research and preparing detailed reports to support planning applications.
  • Attending meetings, site visits, and representing clients at planning committees or appeals.
